I was born in 1986 in Germany. I have diabetes type-1 since 2001, in 2005 I decided to do non-profit work regarding diabetes. We startet with an internet forum for teens (Diabetes-Teens.net), now we also do informational websites (one of which is Diabetes-Index, the German speaking World Diabetes Day website (Welt-Diabetes-Tag. In 2008 we converted all that into a non-profit organisation under German law. Soon we will start with an extensive travel dictionary for diabetes and a diabetes ID. I am also member of the two big diabetes organisations in Germany. I am offering much of my spare time for doing this social work, but it has become more to me; it is now more or less a hobby, where I met nice people, got new friends who I do not want to miss and interesting opportunities. I am really looking forward to our meeting in Dubai and to everything which might come after it.
After my graduation in school, I began to study German and Dutch law with an emphasis on European law, in 2011 I graduated with a masters degree (Master of Laws) in German law and a masters degree (meester in de rechten) in Dutch law. At the moment I am working as a research assistant in a lawyers office, while I am waiting to be able to start with my legal clerkship to become a lawyer in Germany and the Netherlands.
